Create and manage hives
Hive records connect colony identity, configuration, inspections, photos, tasks, treatments, feeding, and history.
Add a hive
- Open Hives.
- Choose Add hive.
- Select the correct apiary.
- Enter a recognizable name and choose the hive type.
- Add colony status, queen details, configuration notes, or strength information that applies.
- Save the hive.
HiveAware assigns a public hive ID. Use that ID when labels or field references need a stable identifier.
Add photos and equipment
Open the hive record to attach useful photos and equipment entries. Record configuration changes in the hive log so later inspections have context.
Good hive photos help with identification or show a condition that should be compared later. Keep general yard photos on the apiary record.
Use a QR label
- Open the hive record.
- Find the QR or lid-card action.
- Print the label at a size your device can scan reliably.
- Attach it where it can be scanned without disrupting the colony.
- Test the printed code before relying on it in the field.
A scanned HiveAware hive link opens the matching record or inspection flow. If sign-in is required, HiveAware keeps the requested hive context through authentication when possible.
Move or retire a hive
Update the apiary assignment when a colony moves. Use the appropriate status when a hive is no longer active so its history remains available without making it appear current.
Next: Record an inspection.
