Set up your first apiary
This guide takes you from a new account to a useful colony record.
Before you begin
Have the name of your yard and at least one hive name ready. An address or map location is useful but not required for the first record.
Create the record structure
- Register or sign in to HiveAware.
- Confirm the workspace shown in the app header. Use My Apiaries for records that belong only to you.
- Open Apiaries and choose Add apiary.
- Enter a clear yard name. Add location and notes when they will help you find or manage the site.
- Save the apiary, then open Hives and choose Add hive.
- Select the apiary you just created and add a recognizable hive name.
- Open Inspect, choose the hive, and record the first inspection.
- Add a dated task for any follow-up that should not rely on memory.
Confirm the setup
Open Today. Your apiary, hive activity, and open task should now contribute to the current-work summary. Open History to confirm the inspection is attached to the correct hive.
tip
Create apiaries before hives and hives before inspections. That order keeps photos, treatments, tasks, and history connected to the right colony.
