Run a queen-rearing cycle

Queen Rearing connects the batch plan to cell builders, mating nucs, queen inventory, calendar work, and reports.

Feature availability

Queen Rearing appears when it is enabled for the current workspace.

Start with the supporting records

  1. Open Queen Rearing.
  2. Add breeder queens that may supply source material.
  3. Add cell builders and mating nucs you plan to use.
  4. Confirm each record has a clear name and current status.

Create a batch

  1. Open Batches and add a batch.
  2. Select the breeder and relevant dates.
  3. Add cells and assign their current stage or destination as work progresses.
  4. Use the calendar to review time-sensitive actions.
  5. Update the batch after grafting, cell placement, emergence, mating checks, or other milestones.

Move queens into inventory

When a queen is ready to track independently, add or update her in Queen Inventory. Record the status and location that are actually known. Link her to the appropriate hive or mating nuc when that relationship exists.

Review reports

Use the reports area to review batch results and current inventory. Resolve missing status updates before comparing outcomes across batches.

tip

Update stages when the work happens. A queen calendar is only reliable when batch, cell, and nuc statuses stay current.
