Install HiveAware on your phone

Install HiveAware from your phone's browser for a full-screen app experience and quick access from the Home Screen.

Install from the browser. HiveAware is a web app, so you do not need to find it in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Start from app.hiveaware.com in the browser named below.

Before you install​

  1. Connect the phone to the internet.
  2. Use Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone.
  3. Open app.hiveaware.com and let the page finish loading.
  4. Sign in if you want to confirm the correct account before adding the app.

Install on Android​

  1. Open app.hiveaware.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap the More menu beside the address bar. It uses the three-dot icon.
  3. Tap Add to Home screen.
  4. Tap Install.
  5. Follow the prompts and return to the Home Screen.
  6. Tap the HiveAware icon to open the installed app.

Chrome may show Install app directly in the More menu. Choose it and follow the same prompts.

Install on iPhone​

  1. Open app.hiveaware.com in Safari.
  2. Tap the More button, then tap Share. Depending on your Safari layout, the Share button may already be visible.
  3. Scroll through the actions and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Turn on Open as Web App.
  5. Tap Add.
  6. Return to the Home Screen and tap the HiveAware icon.

If Add to Home Screen is missing, scroll to the bottom of the Share actions, tap Edit Actions, and add Add to Home Screen.

Confirm the installation​

The installation is ready when:

  • the HiveAware icon appears on the Home Screen;
  • tapping it opens HiveAware in its own app window; and
  • you can sign in and open the expected workspace.

HiveAware still protects your account like the browser version. You may need to sign in again after a session expires.

Prepare it for field work​

Installing the app does not automatically cache every apiary and hive. While connected, sign in and open the workspaces, apiaries, and hives you expect to use before visiting a poor-coverage yard.

Prepare HiveAware for offline use

If the install option is missing​

  • Confirm the page is open in Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone, not inside an email, social, or search app's built-in browser.
  • Leave private or incognito browsing and open the regular browser window.
  • Reload app.hiveaware.com and wait for it to finish loading.
  • On Android, look for either Install app or Add to Home screen in Chrome's More menu.
  • On iPhone, use Edit Actions in the Share sheet to restore Add to Home Screen.
